Raspberry Pi 5 GPIO Pin Access?

Hi

My name Erick.

I put the AI Kit hat on the Raspberry Pi 5 but now it’s covering the GPIO pins. Can I still use them? How?

Thank you!

Erick

Hi Erick,

Do yo have an answer to this or does anyone have an answer ?

Thanks

Hi @thomas38 ,

I found two options in the Raspberry Pi Forums. I think I’ll try raising the AI kit first.

Hi @marcory,

Yes, I came across that discussion as well, and I’m also curious whether the 40-pin GPIO contributes to the performance of the Hailo AI Kit with Raspberry Pi. I also found this thread: Does the Raspberry Pi AI Kit HAT with Hailo-8L chip provide power through GPIO or only PCIe? which suggests that the kit can be powered solely through the PCIe interface. However, it’s unclear to me whether relying only on PCIe affects the performance compared to using GPIO as well.

I’m wondering about this because I’m trying to figure out how to connect infrared LEDs and a relay module to the Raspberry Pi. I was considering using the GPIO to power these components, but I’m not sure if that would impact the AI Kit’s performance.

See answer here: Using the Raspberry Pi GPIOs with the Hailo AI HAT
