Hello,
I’m planning to add a halio-8 to my proxmox system to start with my AI projects. I saw another options as Coral USB, and as USB device is easy to share from proxmox to containers or virtual machines, but as Hailo-8 is in M2 format, I don’t know if it’s possible to access it from the virtualized systems in proxmox.
I only saw a post talking about proxmox, but I have doubts about if it will work and accessible for the virtualized systems in proxmox.
I appreciate if someone uses it in proxmox, because I want to acquire a Halio-8, but first of all I want to know if will works with proxmox virtualized systems (CT, VM).
Regards
Hey @souf ,
Welcome to the Hailo Community!
The Hailo-8 can work with Proxmox virtualization, but with specific limitations:
Compatible Setups
- Virtual Machines with PCIe Passthrough: Works in VMs (not containers) with IOMMU support
 - Proxmox Host Requirements: Must have IOMMU enabled (VT-d for Intel, AMD-Vi for AMD)
 - Performance: Near-native performance when properly passed through

Incompatible Scenarios
- LXC Containers: Not supported at all
 - Systems Without IOMMU: Passthrough won’t work
 - Multiple VM Sharing: Device can only be assigned to one VM at a time

Important Notes
- Can’t be used by both host and VM simultaneously
 - VM must have proper kernel drivers installed
 - Some motherboards have poor IOMMU groupings
 - Proxmox updates may affect compatibility

Thank you @omria, I’ll try it.
Regards
